Week 8

In my interview with Kevin Bryne, our Ravens Insider, this morning on WSBA he made an interesting statement. He pointed out one of the reasons the defense has suffered a bit this year has more to do with football economics than anything else. He says over the past few years the team has concentrated on improving the offense by using their first round picks to draft 2 offensive lineman--Ben Grubbs and Michael Oher--and quarterback Joe Flacco and a 2nd round pick in Ray Rice. He says previously the team went after defensive players like Haloti Ngata, Terrell Suggs & Ed Reed. With the struggles of the defense of late and the age of such defensive stalwarts like Ray Lewis, Trevor Price and Reed look for the pedulum to swing back to the defense on draft day in April.
