In a world where a lot of people don't back up their rhetoric you have to admire Boston College A.D. Gene DeFilippo. Yesterday he fired successful head football coach Jeff Jagodzinski after warning the 45 year old not to talk with the Jets about their head coaching vacancy. The 2nd year coach talked with the Jets and 48 hours later was out of his full time gig in Chestnut Hill. Not very many A.D's are willing to take as strong a stand as DeFilippo did with a wayward coach. It seems like every coach--except Joe Paterno--is looking for the next job. Now I realize that few head coaches have a lot of job security but maybe the next guy--at least at Boston College--will think a 2nd time before lusting after another job. Somehow I don't think Bobby Petrino or Nick Saban will be getting interview requests from B-C.
