You had to know it was coming. Pacman Jones has drawn the ire of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell again. After his alcohol fueled fight with a personal bodyguard last week the Commish has slapped Jones with a indefinite suspension without pay!
A couple of things to note here. Jones is thug! Plan and simple. No matter what anyone says or does he is going to continue to cause problems. Yes he is a talented player but Commissioner Goodell has established what you do off the field is just as important as on the field. The sad thing here is the Cowboys were willing to overlook the whole thing. Jones played in Sunday's loss to the Cards and would be in the line-up this coming weekend if Goodell hadn't stepped in and said no more of this. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could have shown he wasn't an enabler for Jones by suspending Pacman. But JJ showed his true colors...deliver on the field and I don't care what you do off the field. Shame on you Jerry!
Interesting to see Joe Paterno using a cane to walk into his weekly news conference yesterday at Beaver Stadium. I'm sorry to say this but being 81 could be catching up on Joepa. It is becoming more and more obvious that he is just a figure head for the #3 Nittany Lions. Paterno has spent the last few games up in the pressbox due to an ailing hip that he hurt just before the start of the season. I think that Paterno's "situation" may help University President Graham Spainer force the longtime coach to finally retire. Right now the team is being run by Defensive Coordinator Tom Bradley and Joe's son Jay. I really believe Bradley should be named the coach after the season. Wouldn't it be a great way for Paterno to leave the stage with a National Championship! Hmmmm
