Happy New Year

The NFL season kicks off Thursday evening with the defending Super Bowl champion Giants taking on division rival Washington.

Lots of intriguing plot lines this season. I think the Chargers are real Super Bowl contenders but with All Pro Linebacker Shawn Merriman hoppled with a bad knee they may not have enough to get by the Steelers, Pats, Colts and Jags.

I think in the end LT and Company will get the monkey off their back and go to the Super Bowl. The Bolts always seem to stumble in the playoffs to the Patriots or Colts. The Steelers could be the spoiler this year. I like the make up of the team but can they overcome one of the hardest schedules in the NFL. As for the NFC everyone loves the Cowboys and I do too but again the schedule is brutal. The NFC East will be very competitive with 4 playoff worthy teams and the Cowboys have to play the Steelers in December and open the season against a playoff contender in Cleveland. Lets not anoint the Cowboys but I do like the make up of the team.

Picks:

Penn State over Oregon State (Saturday 2pm on WSBA)
Bengals over the Ravens (Sun 12:30p on WSBA)
Giants over Redskins
Steelers beat Houston
Eagles dump Rams
Chargers over Carolina
