Hold on a minute

I see some of my friends, who are Orioles fans, anointing the Birds as the class of the AL East after their opening series sweep of the Twins.  The Birds have looked good with terrific stating pitching and some timely hitting.  In the first 3 games the O's starters have given up just 10 hits and 1 earned run.  Is this going to last NO but O's fans should enjoy the excellent start. The other good news for the Birds is the start of rightfielder Nick Markakis.  The veteran was slowed by injuries last season and his production at the plate fell off.  Markarkis is 5 of 9 with 2 homers in the first 3 games of the season.  If the O's are going to have any chance of competing in the East they will need a solid season from Markakis along with Centerfielder Adam Jones, Catcher Matt Wieters and Shortstop J-J Hardy.  Each one of them has homered in the first series of the year.

Here is my take on how the season will play out:

AL East-Yankees
AL Central-Tigers
AL West-Angels
Wild Cards-Rangers & Rays

NL East-Phils
NL Central-Reds
NL West-Diamondbacks
Wild Cards-Marlins & Giants
