Tragic

The Sunday death of defending Indy 500 Champ Dan Wheldon in a 15 car crash in Las Vegas was tragic because it could have been prevented.  In the days leading up to the race numerous drivers--including Wheldon--complained about the Vegas track.  They said the width of the track would allow for wheel to wheel racing at over 225 MPH on the track and that it would be hard to separate the contenders from the also rans.  A mistake by one of those also ran drivers led to Wheldon's car running up the rear tire of a car in front of his and his car getting airborne.  Wheldon was a 2 time winner of the Indy 500 and a Indycar Series champ 6 years ago.  At 33 he was also the father of 2 young children.  Yes racing is dangerous but Indycar must be more mindful of WHERE they run their races because lives are at stake.
