Here we go again

Stop me if you've heard this before. Steelers Linebacker James Harrison has been fined by the NFL for an illegal hit on a Quaterback. The league docked Harrison $25,000 for his hit on Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick Sunday that drew a 15 yard roughing the passer penalty. Harrison planted his helmet into the chest of a defenseless Fitzpatrick.

This is the 4th time this season Harrison has been fined for a total of $125 thousand. In each case Harrison didn't think he deserved to be fined or for that matter penalized. The league has said it is going to crack down on these illegal hits. Fining these guys isn't going to do it. The fines amount to tip jar money for top NFL players. Until the league sits guys like Harrison, for a game or 2 after repeated violations, the problem is going to continue until some player gets seriously injured and has his career cut short.

Harrison is a dirty player...always has been. One of the reasons the Ravens cut him in training camp in 2004 was his attitude and dirty tactics. When he takes out a marquee NFL player, with an illegal hit, the league will finally suspend him.
