Good news for Birds

When Buck Showalter was hired in early August I said it would be a good measure for the future if the Birds could go 500 in the final 2 months of the season. The last few years the Orioles have been flat out awful in August and September. This year is a marked difference. Despite last night's loss to the Red Sox the Birds are 29-18 under Showalter with 9 games remaining in the season. This guarantees the Orioles a winning record in the final 2 months of the season. In fact the team is playing on a 100 win pace during the first 2 months of the Showalter tenure. The club is finally playing to its potential. The young pitchers have matured and the top players have been pulling their load. It will be interesting to see what off-season moves the team makes to build on the late season revival.

Picks:

Temple over #23 Penn State (Sat 2p on WSBA)
Ravens over the Browns (Sun 12:30 on WSBA)
Eagles beat Jags (Sun 12n on 96.1 WSOX)
Steelers beat the Bucs
Skins dump the Rams
Fins over the Jets
Pckers beat the Bears in the Monday Nighter.

Last week 5-2
Overall 8-4
